The first day with my Korg MS2K. The doorbell rang and the
postman brought me the long awaited-package. And he left. But there was
no synth in the package. After unwrapping it I found a big purse inside, stuffed with crumpled newspapers. "Uncool" - I though in
silence and grabbed the phone to call the seller but the postman came
back just in time. From the stoop he shouted: "hey man,
wait, I've mistaken the parcels ! ! !". So I brought back the fancy
floral bag and we patched it up with some scotch tape so that it
looked untouched. Voila.
I'm spending the first days with my MS-2000, and usually the first
days are filled with sweat and tears, but not this time - this
synth is amaaaaaaaaazing from the first moments and I am impressed! Woof-woof!!! OK, calm down.
By "amazing" I mean great sounding &
feature-rich, right out of the box. I'm not saying that it's amazing to the extent
that it will give you an adrenal gland attack or provide a meaning to
your pointless, solitary life. It just gives me cool
sound plus an encouraging amount of features and sonic character =
resulting in lots of fun & fulfillment in the field of sound
exploration and song building - a recipe for success in my eyes.
Of course at the beginning I made the big mistake of expecting
spectacular analog sound from it, since it's called a VA synth, but
after a short-lived confusion I grew to understand what this synth is
all about. It's about being sassy but effective at the same time - like
a nasty brat who gets high grades in school so you can't actually
punish him too severely for the pranks that he does around the house.
The MS-2000 constitutes a blend of various parts and qualities, and
even though those parts may not be perfect or spectacular in
themselves, the sum of these parts results in a great machine. Its
sound and character is like a mixture of warmth, strength, courage and
playfulness, analog or not.
If you ask me about the
things which I find most useful and entertaining, I will point at the
mod-step-sequencers that modulate the overall MS2K timbre into a
variety of groovy little sound-scapes. The interface is well-designed
and well-tailored for this task. But I also love the FX section that
gives me a variety of attention-grabbing lead sounds. One could think
that effects are just effects - delay will always be delay, chorus
will always do what it does - but the trick is that each team of
engineers chooses a slightly different set of components with
which they build the FX modules, or develops a slightly different
software code. This way different effects sound and behave differently
on different synths. Here the delay and the phaser especially are a
huge boon.
Now, having spent weeks with it, there's only one word
for a synth like that: a classic. One of the most gratifying synths
with huge potential for lots of great sounds. The MS-2000 may be the
best option for soft and hard electro / industrial and synth / rockpop
at the same time. Inspires & boosts creativity (isn't the
Microkorg one of the most successful synths in history in term of
sales, right behind the DX7?). It's like a big
professional toy for big carefee guys. Something that us guys have
always been dreaming of, right?
Pierwszy dzien z moim MS2K.
Zadzwonil domofon i listonosz przyniosl dlugo oczekiwany syntezator.
Pozegnal sie i poszedl. Ale w paczce nie bylo syntezatora. Gdy wrocilem do
domu i rozpakowalem warstwy, w srodku znalazlem wielka damska torbe
wypelniona pogietymi gazetami. Niefajnie. Zlapalem za telefon. Listonosz
wrocil w sama pore. Powiedzial "Halo, czekac, pomylilem paczki !!!" No wiec
przynioslem mu te smetna torbe we wzory kwiatowe i razem jakos to wszystko
do kupy tasma klejaca sklecilismy - wygladalo jak nieruszane. Voila.
Minelo dopiero 3 godziny od
tego zdarzenia, mimo to jestem tutaj by juz powiedziec, ze ten syntezator
jest rewelacyjny. JESTEM pod wrazeniem. Poprzez "rewelacyjny" rozumiem
"niespodziewanie fajny, doskonale brzmiacy, z wachlarzem roznorodnych
funkcji". Nie zrozumcie mnie zle, ze niby jest taki niesamowity ze narobicie
pod siebie z wrazenia... Po prostu sprawil mi duzo frajdy. Spedzam pierwsze
dni z MS2000 i jestem pod wrazeniem. Synth jest genialny. Poprzez "genialny"
rozumiem: fajny, dobrze brzmiacy, bogaty w funkcje.
brzmien i budowaniu piosenek.
mozesz go karac zbyt srogo.
MS2000 to KLASYK.
sobie wielki potencjal do wielu efektywnych barw.
chwala Bogu za to. MS2000 brzmi jak MS2000 i jest to bardzo pozytywne
brzmienie, cos jakby polaczenie ciepla, sily, odwagi i zabawowosci. MS2000
industrialu i synth/rockpopu. Inspiruje i daje kopa kreatywnosci. Jest jak
duza profesjonalna zabawka dla duzych beztroskich chlopcow. Cos o czym my
chlopcy zawsze marzymy, nieprawdaz?
