I don't give names to synths, but I had to make an exception with this one. MAMMOTH. Because it's so big, looks so ancient and is so rare and hard to find. And it's funny - I mean the labels of its modules / features: "Singing" means Long Sustain, "Traveler" means Cutoff.

The rumour has it that this model is Korg's answer to da Odyssey and da Minimoog. Actually this might be true, because it's very close to the Odyssey in capabilities. The sound is very groovy, huge and meaty, yet at the sime bouncy like a spring and some people might find it irksome when it springs back at them, unyielding to their attempts to make it sound like the Odyssey or a Moog.

Gurgling filters and ring modulator... neat. Apart from the Singing/Traveler thing, another uncommon thing is the lack of Resonance knob, where what you get instead is a 3 position switch that adds and removes the resonance. Another 3 position switch expands the filters' max frequency range, or just works as a [VCF EG Depth] control. I'm writing <filters'> and not <filter's> because we have 2 sets of filters here. That is altogether 4 filters (double LPF and double HPF, 2 per voice). And 2 VCOs, which get subdivided so we really have 4 VCOs. Everything is double here. Like the two tusks of a mammoth.

Nie mam w zwyczaju dawac imion sprzetom, ale tutaj od razu poczulem wyjatek. MAMUT. Bo jest taki wielki, bo dzis wyglada juz prehistorycznie i tak ciezko na niego trafic. Nazwy funkcji sa zabawne; Singing = Long Sustain, Traveler = Cutoff.

Niektorzy produkuja plotki, ze ten model byl odpowiedzia Korga na Minimooga i Odyssey. W zasadzie moze to byc uzasadnione twierdzenie, bo Maxikorg rzeczywicie ma mozliwosci prawie jak Odyssey.

Burczace filtry i ring modulator...szal. Oprocz wynalazku Singing/Traveler, kolejna rzecz ktorej sie nie spodziewasz to brak galki do rezonansu. Zamiast niej dostaniesz trojpozycyjny tudziez trzy-poziomowy dzyndzel tudziez przelacznik, ktory dodaje i odejmuje rezonansu. Kolejny switch poszerza lub zweza zakres czestotliwosci filtrow, lub po postu dziala mniej wiecej jak glebokosc obwiedni. Pisze "filtrow"a nie "filtra", bo mamy tutaj 2 zestawy filtrow, razem 4 filtry (podwojny LPF i podwojny HPF, po 2 na 1 glos). I dwa oscylatory, ktore sie dziela, wiec w sumie mamy ich 4. Wszystko tutaj jest podwojne. Jak dwa kly mamuta.
